Have you ever arrived at home, just after a long day at work, only to realise that it’s already time for bed, even though you’ve barely done anything in the day?
For a great many people, I know that’s something they can most certainly relate to.
Time seems to go by like a flash, years feel like months, months feel like days and days feel like minutes.
In truth, this feeling can be attributed to us not properly utilising our time.
Sure, it may seem like you did barely anything the moment you arrived at home. But the question you should be asking yourself, is, what exactly did you do with your time? Did you watch TV? Spend some time on the web looking through your social media? Or maybe you spent time watching YouTube videos.
Instead, why not put aside some time doing something you truly enjoy. It could be anything, from life improvement to just plain old entertainment.
Below you will find 8 fun things that you can and may want to consider doing in your spare time, while on your computer.
1. Play Video Games
When it comes to fun things to do, video games undoubtedly must top that chart. Most of the games today can be played either with a friend or by yourself. If you’re interested in multiplayer, then the process may entail going to a specific website that hosts the game, then choosing amongst the options made available to you. Such as difficulty, game level and character.
An online game can serve multiple purposes, not just as a pass time. As you can also interact with the people that you’re playing with, making it possible for you to make friends. There are a large assortment of games out there, many of which may require you to go out and purchase a high performance machine, while others can be played directly through your browser.
2. Stream Music
With the power of the PC today, steaming music is nothing like it was in the past. When people would be frustrated by endless buffering, due to both internet speeds and the processing power of the machine. Today you can connect directly to your favourite radio station online. It’s even possible for you to access your home music library virtually. Just need to have everything setup on your main home PC.

If you’re feeling somewhat bored, then YouTube is probably your go-to. It’s one of the most popular arenas on the internet today. On this platform you will find an almost infinite number of videos. You can find films, music videos, animations, documentaries and much more.
If you decide to create your own YouTube channel, then you can also upload your own videos and share them with people from every part of the globe. You’d essentially be a content creator in your own right, which you could then go further to monetise. This would allow you to make money doing the things that you actually enjoy; which is why YouTube is so popular amongst the masses.
4. Share and Transfer Files
Another very cool thing that you can do on your computer system is share files across many different devices. Essentially you can access your home music library (which I already touched on), but this goes a little further. It’s also possible to access your movie collection through the internet, as well as family and/or vacation photos. With the ability to transfer files, this ensures that all the data that matters most to you, is always available to you, and can be shared with whomever you like.

Interested in travelling the world? Then learning a new language may be of great interest to you.
There are an assortment of ways you can go about doing this. You could acquire paid software, or you could go down the free avenue – it all depends on you.
Duolingo is an application that may interest you, as it provides both a free and paid solution. It comes jam-packed with an array of languages that you can learn from. That said, there are other apps, even online courses that you can do, which are just as helpful. So maybe you’d like to spend some time doing your own research.
6. Submit Content to a Journal
There are a lot of people that like to write to journals, the great news, is with the advent of the internet, it’s now possible to do it online.
There are many of these services around, many of which allow you to set the look of your journal and also protect it using a password.
You can also create as many accounts as you like, which is excellent, as this gives you the freedom to keep accounts of whatever is of interest to you in as many accounts of your choosing.
